The hardest part of leaving, was knowing how much my parents would miss my boys. Not me, my boys! Dad broke down and drove us to the airport with mom.
Our plane was delayed two hours because they gave us a new plane with more seats, so all the planned seating was deleted. They gave us separate seats all over the plane, but just before boarding upgraded the boys to "Premium Economy", so they had really nice, big seats with amenities. No room for me though! But we all arrived safe and sound so that's all that counts.
We picked up our rental car and drove to the bank in our home town, changed money and went to the grocery store. At the grocery store we ran into a lady from Guilderland, who has a summer house here too! We got our groceries - filling the cart for 81 Euros. As we left the store closed for afternoon siesta - 1:00.
When we got to our house, my great aunt and uncle were waiting for us, as was Maria from Paris. Zia cooked us pranzo and then we crashed for a few hours. In the evening I went to the phone store, got my phone set up and decided to get an internet "key" which allows us internet access from anywhere.
Once the sun sets it is nice and cool. We were having a light dinner, fresh mozzarella and salami with white pizza, when we heard something behind the fireplace doors. Turns out to be a little owl, that Gianluca escorted out the window.
My aunt says that it was "la civetta" and as long as he sings a happy song things are okay, but if he starts to cry then something bad will happen. Well, I'm not superstitious, but he's OUT! The next morning Luciano had to get his three buddies out, but they were already morti - dead. So we are going to get wire over the chimney so there are no more surprises!
